Rediscovering the Soul of Breath
Our soul, which is air, is the source of all beings. From the wind of the world, all things arise and all things dissolve.” - Ancient Greek philosopher Anaximenes
Breath (pneuma) is life.
Breath (pneuma) is spirit.
One word, pneuma, holds both meanings.
But there is no separation of breath and life and spirit.
They are one in the same.
They are pneuma.
The “Philosophy of Breath” goes back hundreds and thousands of years.
To read “breath is life” from so many different ancient cultures - Rumi to Socrates to Chuang-Tzu - is a gift and a unique reminder of how beautiful and important each breath is.
So here is my invitation.
Focus on your breath.
Feel the life that comes with each inhale.
When we are able to slow our breath,
we are better able to connect to spirit.
We are better able to connect to our true self.
We are better able to connect to nature, others, and the world.
Connect to your breath.
Control your breath.
Notice the symbiosis of
breath & spirit.
They are one in the same.
Breath is life.
Life is pneuma.
Pneuma is breath.
Breath is spirit.
