Hello, I'm Dr. Justin Ternes, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Breathwork Specialist, and Mindset and Performance Coach, born and raised in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
My interest in life, movement, spirit, health, community, and wellness led me to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. Over time, I discovered alternative approaches like Breathwork, Ice Baths, Men's Groups, and Plant Medicine, which profoundly shaped my perspective and practice. With a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Arkansas and a Doctorate from Franklin Pierce University, my journey took me to North County San Diego, where I integrated mindfulness, breathwork, and stress reduction into my practice.
Inspired by leaders like Jon Kabat-Zinn and Wim Hof, I founded True Self Health & Human Performance, offering Mind/Body/Breath Mindset & Performance coaching alongside my work as a Physiotherapist. I lead weekly workshops, including breathwork sessions, ice bath experiences, and men's groups. My spare time is dedicated to continuous learning and optimizing human health.
When not immersed in health exploration, you'll find me cold-plunging, breathing, engaging in my amazing local community, and killing it on the basketball court.
Extensive research supports the application of breathwork in healthcare for improving everything from immune function, anxiety levels, physical and mental performance, mood regulation, and overall quality of life.
