Cold Exposure
Hello Ice Warriors…
In this edition of the True Self Blog, we will be taking a closer look at cold exposure and its benefits for health, wellness, performance, and overall improvement of quality of life! …especially when paired with mindful breathwork and great community!
…Let’s Dive In!
Cold-Exposure by definition is any purposeful, intentional, and prolonged exposure to “cold.” This comes by way of ice bath, cryotherapy, jumping into a local swimming hole! (see below.)
Improved circulation. Significant Fat Burning. Enhanced mental clarity. Strengthened immune system.
The practice is ancient. The science is cutting-edge. I’m excited to share more with you below!
Resources For Your Cold Practice
I’ve been diving deep (pun intended) into this practice for over 8 years, learning from some of the brightest minds in this field and jumping into freezing waters all over the world. However, cold exposure is not just for thrill-seekers or health fanatics or professional athletes. It’s a practice rooted in ancient wisdom and backed by modern science, and it’s beneficial for everyone.
So whether you are a fellow Ozark Ice Warrior or you are shivering and thinking “absolutely not” while reading this, I encourage you to take a deep breath, embrace the chill, and discover how cold exposure can invigorate your life.
ICE ADVICE
Just Do It!
Ice Baths are never fun, but always worth it! Just do it!
YOU ARE SAFE!
My most frequently used mantra while in the ice is “I am safe, I am safe, I am safe”
This is a mind/body/nervous system regulation practice that fully allows me to let go, relax, and receive the benefit of the cold.
Listen to your body, but encourage your body.
3x/week, everyday - your body is the guide… but be mindful, it might also try to deceive you. Give yourself positive encouragement. You can do it!
