Breath & Stress

Feeling Stress? You’re Not Alone.

According to American Institute of Stress, 55% of American adults are stressed during the day.

I believe this metric is significantly inaccurate. 100% of adults face stress at some point during the day. This is because stress is a natural part of life!

Stress is everywhere. We need stress for growth. (Think: exercise, difficult-yet-necessary conversations, learning a new skill, etc.) Unfortunately, most people have come to understand stress as bad, something all-consuming that we need to eliminate.

In this blog, I will help you reframe your perception of stress and teach you ways to transform stress into strength through breath!

Harnessing Stress for Growth: The Power of Breathwork

Hormesis, the scientific term for beneficial stress, describes this "sweet spot" that leads to growth. Too much stress is harmful, of course. But too little stress can be detrimental as well.

Finding this balance is crucial, and we can tap into this sweet spot through deep, intentional, and conscious BREATH.

Breathwork is an incredible tool to foster growth in our physical body (enhancing lung capacity), our mental space (increasing focus), and our psycho-emotional realm (regulating mood).

Breathwork: Your Tool for Stress Transformation

Breathwork has emerged as a powerful tool for navigating the complexities of stress. Using our breath as an intentional stressor allows us to tap into that hormetic sweet spot and achieve many benefits, including:

  • Increase lung capacity and improve physical health

  • Enhance mental focus and clarity

  • Regulate mood and emotional well-being

With over six years of breathwork training, teaching, and exploration, I am excited to share my tips, tools, and practices with you!

A Note of Gratitude

This week’s note of gratitude begins with a deep breath in… holding the breath… creating a slight internal stress… feeling the stress and acknowledging the positive growth that will come with this… a deep breath that leads to deep gratitude for the moment…. and, finally, a slow exhale.

I am grateful for stress.
I am grateful for my lungs that give me life.

I am grateful for my community that shares connecting breaths with me.
