Through breathwork training and performance coaching, Dr. Justin Ternes, DPT helps coaches, teams, and athletes take their mental game to another level.
As a lifelong hooper and athlete, True Self Health & Human Performance founder, Justin Ternes discovered the art of breathwork in 2016 while listening to a Wim Hof Method podcast. He quickly found that practicing this technique helped him gain significantly better focus in the classroom and on the court.
"Controlling the breath is the most direct way to influence the mind and nervous system"
While obtaining his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, Dr. Ternes discovered a deep overlap of breathwork practices and stress reduction techniques to support patients with pain and improve healing. Further, he began sharing this technique with athletes recovering injury and saw amazing improvements in rehab and recovery time.
In practicing and exploring his own breath, he began to recognize the deep potential.
6 years, countless hours of continuing education, and hundreds of patients and athletes later, Justin is one of the top up-and-coming leaders of breathwork, mindset, and meditation for performance coaching.
That is how I get myself back into an optimum state of mind and body. Through breathwork, whether it’s just one or two or five breaths depending on how much time I have... Conscious breathing, it’s as simple as that.”
- Novak Djokovic
"I meditate every day... it's like an anchor. If I don't do it, I am chasing the day rather than being in control of the day."
- Kobe Bryant
"There is only one place where high-performance is achieved and the opportunity for growth and healing exist: The Present Moment."
- Michael Gervais, Sports Psychologist
“When you focus on your breathing you saturate your red blood cells with oxygen. When this happens, the primal part of our hardware is tricked into believing that everything is calm and under control."
- Sean Foley, Golf Coach for Phil Mickelson
